Meet the Tutor
I’m Jonathan. I was born and raised in the Northwest, with a brief detour to Alabama. Growing up in a family of musicians, I developed an appreciation of classical music. I hold a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Teaching both from Seattle Pacific University. For nine years, I worked as a classroom teacher, giving instruction in creative writing, Shakespeare, and science fiction, as well as Advanced Placement English courses. Students described my teaching style as “collegiate.” I also created a Philosophy Club where students could meet after school to discuss and debate all sorts of questions. As a tutor, I have worked with students as young as 8 and as old as 18, teaching everything from elementary math to the political philosophy of Plato.
In my spare time, I enjoy watching horror movies, playing guitar, and making sourdough bread and pizza. I live in Lakewood with my wife and two children, ages 12 and 9.
